DR. TOM GLEW
Dr. Glew was born and grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. He is married
and the parent of a son. He attended UBC and graduated
in 1973 in biology with a major in Zoology. For the next five years
he worked in the field, first with waterfowl and then in fisheries
research. He continues to have a life long love of nature. In 1978,
he decided to pursue his interest in health and medicine by enrolling
in the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland Oregon,
graduating in 1982. After some further training in advanced acupuncture,
he returned to Vancouver where he has been practicing ever since.
Dr. Glew feels that his patients are his best teachers. One of
the most important things we do as physicians is listen to the patient
and let them tell their story. From this emerges the pattern of
their health, physically, emotionally and spiritually. As doctors,
we must always recognize that we do not do the healing. The body
has its inherent ability to heal, we can only assist that process
and we must always work with it not against it.
Dr. Glew has a great curiosity about health and healing and is
constantly learning about new developments and the revival of some
traditional ones. He has been particularly influenced by the German
school of biological medicine. Over 20 years of practicing he has
acquired experience with a long list of natural therapies and medicines.
For the insight of the mytho-poetic into the psyche, he has studied
with Robert Bly, Michael Meade, Robert Moore, James Hillman and
others. As well, he continues to study the latest techniques of
IV nutrition and chelation to treat some of the more serious illnesses
such as cancer and heart disease.
